| Group photo of fresh-faced hikers |
This weekend, we have had so much fun with some of our friends from our old neighborhood, and lucky for you, I have documented the fun!
 |
| Keeping a look out for adventure |
It all started after school on Friday when mom and dad picked us up; we drove several hours to a distant land filled with trees and hills and caves, arriving just in time to enjoy some late dinner and sleep in a huge cabin with some of our buddies! Talk about a giant sleepover!
 |
| I think we may have spotted a bear, or maybe that was Dad. |
We were able to play in the woods with our friends--can you believe that we hunted bears and climbed rock formations? And the weather was beautiful, not too hot and nice and sunny--perfect for spending time outdoors. We reserved most of our free time for hiking--and these weren't your granny's hiking trails. We were exploring caves, crossing bridges and fallen trees, climbing giant towers, trying not to fall off cliffs, and getting as close as possible to waterfall pools and streams (without getting our school shoes wet, under threat of death by mama).

We really packed a lot of fun into a short amount of time and I haven't even talked about it all!

With all these awesome activities, we worked up some hearty appetites. Good thing we had the fixings to make s'mores over a bonfire and awesome meals by Mr. Gary and Mr. Scott--they sure do make yummy food for a crowd of hungry hikers! And, I can't neglect to mention that ice cream place, where we got to pick our favorite flavor!
 |
| How did we ever choose just one flavor!?!? |

| Only movie time could have us all sitting still for this photo |
It was a great getaway, though a short one! I hope we can do this again soon.
