Isaiah's Birthday--first broken bone

It started off great.  Z woke up excited about his birthday, filled with anticipation for a fun and exciting day.  He has been wanting the Minecraft video game forever, and I knew Mom and Dad were going to get it for him.  He also had some awesome presents wrapped and waiting from the grandparents...including a brand new ripstick board he had been eyeing for a few months at the cousins' house.  He was super excited to eat his cake and open presents, and soon he was racing around the driveway on his new toy.

He was doing great--he has crazy innate balance and agility--he rode for over an hour with no problem until he ended up hitting a small twig or rock, lost his balance, and fell off the board onto his arm.  He hadn't gotten around to putting on his knee and wrist guards, so you can guess what happened!!  His arm looked kind of funny, and he was not very happy.  Mom ended up having to take him to the hospital (not her favorite place, especially on the weekend!); the x-rays confirmed that his ulna was fractured, and even the part that wasn't broken, looked bent like it should not have been.  He ended his 7th birthday in the emergency department and went home with a new splint.

He had to see Dr. Brandon, who recommended he get it surgically straightened/bent back into shape, so this is where he ended up a few days later.  He did great though, but is not very happy about being restricted from his bike, his skateboard, running, jumping, swimming, and you name it for the next couple months!!  The summer just got a whole lot less fun for him, but at least he can play Minecraft now!!
