Anchors Away!

So my parents did a thing this week; they have been talking about boats, specifically sailing boats, for quite a while and hemming and hawing over learning to sail.  I have to say that I didn't really think they were serious, but this week, they pulled the trigger...calling it a 15 year anniversary present (a little belated as it may be), and they bought a 33 year old Newport 30 from a retired sailor stepping out of the sport.
Getting the boat prepped for leaving dry dock...late in the season, thought it may be.

Previous owner, Mr. J, helping us get her rigged for sailing.
Our first sail, with me at the helm...this will take some getting used to.

Moving day!  Taking the boat to our home port...a 5 hour sail
under the watchful eye of our newest friend, Mr. Bob!!

Captain Dad

Celebrating the homecoming!!!

Nana helped us celebrate, as Mr. Bob reflects on how much we still have to learn!!

Here is to fair winds and following seas!  The family adventure begins...
