The Shutdown-Spring Break Cancelled!

Disappointed faces that are not currently
boarding a plane for paradise.

There are some things you cannot prepare for...bad news can hit at the worst time, but sometimes you have a warning and see it coming before the blow, and sometimes you are taken by surprise with the knock out punch.  And, boy have we had some bad news this week, the kind that packs a disappointing punch that dashed all our plans.  Apparently, there is some rogue virus going about the world, that causes a sickness called COVID-19, and it is finally hitting close to home after weeks and months of it seeming like it was someone else's problem.  It is our problem now!  Last Thursday, our Governor closed all our schools for the next three weeks, and people are being encouraged not to travel to avoid getting sick or getting others sick.  This is hard, because our family has been planning to go to a tropical wonderland island to visit some people we love (Aunt Amy moved to Hawaii last summer!).  We kept our hopes up until the bitter end, thinking that somehow we could make it work, but in the end, our trip is cancelled.

Sam's rendition of the island that we will not be seeing any time soon

Our whole family is pretty disappointed, to say the least, but in some ways, I think Mom and Dad look a little relieved to stay home in the face of a whole lot of uncertainty in the world right now.   We have a lot to be thankful for, but still we are feeling this loss pretty acutely, especially since we have been hoping and dreaming and planning this adventure and fun for a long time.  I hope we can reschedule our beautiful, epic spring break adventure some time soon.  Until then, we are washing our hands and staying at home...pray for me and my brothers as we deal with our parent's inept teaching skills for the next few weeks of virtual/distance learning!!

Guess our travel journals just went virtual too!

Our spring break will now involve playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild;
I could have been on the beach instead!!

Mom is sad not to be able to noise-cancel us out on the plane any more.

Our cousins are disappointed also, that we won't be coming...
